I joined the club October 2018 having not played the game for at least 45 years but had always enjoyed the game back then. I had had a hip replacement 12 months earlier and felt I needed to keep up some sort of activity especially during the winter months. I was recommended to the Whittlesey Table Tennis club during some conversation with friends and then one of the members contacted me and suggested I go to the Wednesday afternoon session which I did and was immediately made to feel very welcome by all the members and was surprised at how friendly they all were. I had no bat but that wasn’t a problem as they have superb equipment and good quality spare bats for new members to use.
The club also has excellent qualified coaches who are more than happy to give you 1 to 1 coaching to help improve your game and give you motivation. The club also hold a few social afternoon/evening get togethers, which helps give the club a togetherness feeling. The whole atmosphere and workings of the club are excellent and I would certainly recommend the club to anyone thinking about joining to come along and give it a go no matter what level you are.
